Week11_3D Design

Image
For this assignment, I created a small heart icon using Nomad, I think heart can explore the idea of   emotional connection and support . To make this shape more interactive, I tried to use this 3D tool to let it rotate.  A heart can represents a lot, such as someone's love and a sense of belonging. I am interested how to turn a simple and popular icon into a multi-function design element. It now can be a logo, a UI icon, and also a wearable object after 3D printed. In addition, I also so s mall adjustments in proportion, thickness, and curvature significantly changed how the object felt. Whether it appeared soft, symbolic, or more like a technical icon.

Everyone's work looks so cool. And I choose 7 work which leave me the deepest impression to comment. Thank you  Kate,  Brigid, Gigi, Jane, Chenyu, Joyce and Jiwon.

Week 10_2D Design Fabrication

Image
This project explores the transformation of 2D graphic design into a 2D fabrication experience. Starting from Adobe Illustrator, I selected three futuristic-inspired patterns including a brain, a heart, and a hand, then translated them into line-based graphics. By reducing complex imagery into contours and structured linework, the visuals became more adaptable for fabrication while maintaining a sense of depth and texture.  Using a laser cutter, I fabricated the designs into three puzzle pieces, which make the final work more interactive and interesting. When assembled, the flat engraved surfaces interact with light and perspective, creating an illusion of dimensionality that bridges 2D and 3D perception.  This project reflects my ongoing interest in combining graphic design, digital fabrication, and interactive perception to create more immersive visual experiences.
